First Day of Work

My first day on the job was yesterday. I worked about ten hours with a short lunch break. I did not have to but I dived into the work mainly because otherwise I would be sitting at my desk (I get my own desk CAPITAL) and doing nothing. Currently most of my job consists of research, which is something that I enjoy anyway. Most of the information that I’m looking for is not in Japanese of English. I really can not talk about my work that much because of the nondisclosure agreement that I needed to sign before working here.

I’m having a blast, though the job is taking a little out of me because I’m just sitting and staring at a computer screen for hours. I guess it is different when you are playing video games.

To get to work I take a subway. I need to transfer once, and that isn’t that bad. The worst part is when I get on the first train it is so crowded that someone needs to shove people in to get the doors close. It works great, though I’m packed tighter than many music concerts that I have been to. The entire trip takes about 20 to 25 minutes. Even in that time though (and the air ventilation on the subway) I’m sweating through my shirt when I get to work. The humidity here is killer.

Some of the other students that I have talked to are not doing much of anything at their internships, except work on the internship report. I would say that they are lucky but I really like my job now and I’m doing real work. I may not have time to work on the internship report but I can accept that because it may keep me out of trouble (though I doubt it).
